VOICE OF THE YOUTH NETWORK BLOGGER

1. November 20 Marks the Universal Children's Day
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The strive of children makes for a catchy slogan, but the truth behind it is so overwhelming that once you get the courage to look behind the pictures and into the eyes of the children you get a mission that can last a lifetime.

The statistics that surround this issue are disheartening: in poor countries, children under the age of 14 are five times as likely to die before their fifth birthday due to prenatal causes and preventable diseases. Past the age of 10, children in the developing world are exploited as child laborers and domestic servants, trafficked for sexual exploitation and pornography, and forced into service as child soldiers. In an increasingly globalized world it is sadly far too often that children become victims of the injustice and exploitation.
